2fort5

We knew that the match against Quivering Gibbage would not be an easy one. They had a good reputation, attendance at our recent practice sessions hadn't been too good, and we never really got to practice on bam4. Nevertheless, we were really looking forward to the game. However, a few hours before the game was supposed to begin, we found out that Hetzer had been called in to work. This was particularly bad news, as Hetzer was supposed to fill some important roles during the game, and his loss would mean an urgent rearrangement of our game plan. Not only that, it meant we were also in danger of not being able to field 8 players, as Tetsuo, Victim and Mil were also unavailable. Fortunately Strafe was able to join us for the match so we went in with a full team.

The first map played was 2fort5, 8 v 8. Playing were Z, Fenrir, Grimm, Strafe and Proto on defence, and Karl, rj and Mic on attack. There was some confusion with the defence initially, as, without Hetzer, people were not playing in their normal positions. However, the QG attack was not as strong as we had anticipated, and our key was never captured. It was taken a few times, but it never made it to the top of the fort. A good defensive effort from all involved.

On attack, Karl, rj and Mic were finding the defence tight, but not impregnable. They got a capture in fairly early and followed it up with two more during the game. Considering the strength of our opponents, this was a damn good effort.

Map result: Loki 30, QG 0.
