2fort5
The first map played was 2fort5, 8 v 8, using QW2.3 and TF2.9 on the Zip clan server. Playing for Loki were Victim, Proto, Grimm, Fenrir, Hetzer, Mirage, Zel and Astro Boy. Welcome to Astro Boy, who was playing his first game for us. Please note, he is NOT the Astro Boy who organises OZTFL (and is in clan TC), and he is NOT the Astro Boy in clan KEA. There are far too many Astro Boys around. :) Tetsuo, Mil and Goo spectated the game.
This game had been organised as a friendly game. A game just for some practice, to get some experience in TF2.9 and to start getting back into things after the Christmas break. Unfortunately, however, many in ICQ appeared to be suffering from some severe pre-pubescent hormonal bouts of teenage rage and seemed determined to be as aggressive as possible. [ICQ] Groove was undoubtedly the worst offender. We know ICQ used some fill-ins from other clans, we just don't know exactly how many. We hope [AW] Savage enjoyed playing as [ICQ] Narcotiq though. :-)
During the game, ICQ were mostly 2-3 people down, but still held us out very well. They defended well, but our attackers let themselves get distracted by the worst bridge spammer even seen before, [ICQ] Groove, and seemed to enjoy spending more time chasing him to kill him than actually trying to get the flag. :-) Groove would constantly unload all his grenades and MIRVs onto the bridge, frequently taking himself out in the process. We thought we were going to hit the 512 entity limit for sure.
On defence, we didn't have a lot of work to do. With a number missing players, the ICQ attack was sporadic and weak. We were never in danger of losing our flag but they did touch it once.
Before the game, it was agreed that if ICQ could not get enough players, they could use any extras we had. During the game we constantly asked if they wanted our extra players, but the ICQ spirit was clearly demonstrated in Groove's reply of "no so fuck off".
In the end, ICQ did well to keep our score down to only 30.
Map score: Loki 30, ICQ 0.
