2fort5

(Report written by Shilka)

The first map played was 2fort5, 8 v 8, using QW2.3 and TF2.9 on the Zip Clan server for OTFCR points, using teamplay 1 and new grens. Playing for Loki were Victim, Proto, Darkmane, Fenrir, Shilka, Zel, Beer and Immy. Welcome to Immy, who played his first ever game for us.

Straight away it was obvious things would be very different with teamplay 1 - both teams killed their teammates constantly.

Luckily for Loki, the opening scout rush worked well and the QG flag left their basement only two minutes after the game started. It was relayed back to the Loki base for an early cap. The QG defence seemed to take a moment to organise but when they did they prevented Zel from capturing again. Heavy spam saw the QG flag return after both teams seemingly killed more teammates than the opposition! With a little coordination though, Shilka got through the QG defence and was able to grenade jump out of the basement, thus minimising the spam that would no doubt have ensued.

Meanwhile on defence, Darkmane was making life difficult for the QG offence. His EMP grenades were being put to good use but the teamplay 1 option was making his life difficult as Fenrir scored more kills against Darky than QG did! (Huge exaggeration on Shil's part here!! - Fen). Despite some clever concussion jumps, the QG attackers were unable to get to the key room more than on one or two occasions and each time they did the dreaded sentry gun made its presence felt in the worst possible way. For QG that is.

Back on offence, the Loki boys managed to get the flag out several times but the QG forward defence prevented the Loki scouts from capitalising on the move.
From this point on it became obvious that QG were placing significantly more emphasis on defence. For long stretches at a time, no QG players showed their faces in the blue basement. Perhaps this is a bad habit learnt from public games but the end result didn't help as Loki followed up with another four captures to leave the total at 60 - 0.

Overall, a very satisfying game for Loki. Some excellent teamwork by the attackers including a great debut effort from Immy gave us a solid win. Not to mention the Loki defence who did a sterling job to ensure that the blue flag was never touched.

Map score: Loki 60, QG 0.
