well6

The only map played was well6, 8 v 8 on the TE private server using QW2.3 and TF2.9. Playing for Loki were Hetzer, Vic, Grimm, Goo, Fenrir, Mirage, rj and Zel. Proto and Strafe were at the start too, until we eventually worked out who was actually going to be playing! Mil was supposed to play, but had to download the correct version of the map and turned up late so missed out. Vic also had to download the map at the last minute, also making it to the game late.

We had originally planned to play CCW, a game that had been organised for weeks (if not months). Unfortunately, they cancelled on us with only a couple hours to go. We then got an offer to play a team of New Zealand players, but then they too backed out on us. TE later offered to play a friendly scrimmage, so we happily agreed to this. We turned up to play at 9:30pm, only to find that map checking was on and a few Lokis had different versions of the map and had to go and quickly download the correct one. With the last minute organising of the game and with a couple of players downloading the map, the game started while we were totally disorganised. We had 9 or 10 players at the beginning, with great confusion in our ranks. Vic eventually made it in, and Strafe and Proto dropped out.

We then found out that team frags were on! We had never played with team frags on before, so this was a very unpleasant experience. :) To make matters worse, Hetzer found that his assault cannon was nearly useless and that he couldn't move while firing. We realised we were using TF2.9. :-( This made a serious weakness in our defence, which TE utilised to their advantage. Hopefully Gudlyf will take out the shitty changes to the hwguy by the time TF2.9 is officially released, otherwise we are going to have to make some serious strategy changes.

Anyway, the game carried on while we were trying to figure out what was going on, and TE got to an early lead. We were able to keep in the game with a cap ourselves, at which point the score was 30-10. Our defence, however, was too badly weakened by TF2.9, and TE were getting our key fairly frequently. They raced ahead of us and, despite our getting another cap, we were too far behind to win. Grimm's accidental running of an old name script got him kicked twice for name spamming, which meant we lost our sentry at these times, which didn't help us at all! Grimm, ya dill! :)

Despite the unfamiliar playing conditions, we enjoyed the game and congratulate TE on their good victory. We will be playing them in month's time under TF2.8 and no team frags, the "usual" conditions for us. We think this will be a much closer match then, and will have no excuse if we lose. :)

Map score: TE 90, Loki 20.

Game score: TE won 1-0.
