SGL TF LAN RESULTSupdated by: Astro Boy
Well after some minor networking glitches and Quivering Gibbage not turning up at all, the day went exceptionally well. Everyone left completely satisfied after their 3 matches, with Well6 turning out to be by far the most popular map played.

The first upset of the day came when Arse Bandits, the renamed Black Lung team, beat Xtreme Force 40 - 0 on well6. Definately a hard fought match with AB coming out on top. But the closest match of the day was between Arse Bandits and Loki. At the 28 minute mark the scores were still deadlocked, when [Loki] Fenrir concussion jumped vertically out of the water in AB's well, and threw another concussion grenade at [AB] Devestator which knocked him out of defense for a minute or so. During this time the AB sentry gun had been eliminated and [Loki] were on their way out the door with AB's flag. The flag was dropped at AB's front door where a spam fight insued. But a Loki pyro managed to get the flag and run out beyond the reach of AB's defences. Cries and cheers could be heard from the back room as Loki went on to capture and win that map 10 - 0. AB have sworn to a rematch in the SGL Finals in April that Loki wont get away that easilly next time.

At the end of the SGL TF Rounds, the rankings are, Loki, Arse Bandits, Xtreme Force, then [DraGoN]. Once again a great day was had by all.

Large Updateupdated by: Astro Boy
After thinking about how we could actually have a Most Valuable Player competition, i realised that there were a number of ways we could do it. We could let each team decide who were the 3 most valuable players, but unlike conventional sports, not every player can see ever other player playing. The defence cannot see who is playing best in offence and vice versa. One option was to use a statistic generated by the Speedstats. But none of them were reliable to prove which players outshined the rest, as they were usually geared either towards offense, or towards defence. So in the end i have decided to scrap the Most Valuable Player competition.

Well after being asked too many times where the venue was with the common reply its on the web page, to my horror i found that it wasnt.... So people the venue is now on the web page. The SGL TF LAN will be held at DEATHNet which is based at a Sylvania Heights Hall in the Southern Districts of Sydney. Now that the knowledge is easilly attainable i hope to hear of no missing persons who have registered for the LAN on Saturday.

I have added in a Files section to the web page. From here you can get everything that you will need on Saturday. Of course you can always get these files on Saturday if you wish as this web page will be on a web server at the LAN.

I have compiled a draw from the 5 clans registered for the League. The clans registered at this stage are [DraGoN], Loki, Xtreme Force, Quivering Gibbage, and Black Lung.

All matches played at SGL if agreed to by both teams can be processed in the OTFCR Ranking System.

Cost of SGL TF LAN next Saturday updated by: Astro Boy
Hey Sydney TFer's, just a reminder to teams entered or wishing to enter the SGL TF comp. It will cost $15 per person for the day and that will give you at least 3 TF matches on LAN. It will probably be more like 4-5 matches depending on how many of the teams i am speaking to at the moment end up registering.

BL are likely to be taking a team there, as well as potential teams from QG, FV, and AW. If all of the teams i just mentioned register in the competition, then each team will play 5 matches and 1 bye.

Either way its going to be an awesome day with some of the best teams in Sydney on the one LAN. Can you say " LOW PING, NO PACKETLOSS"? :)

WEDNESDAY 3RD - March 1999

Registrations to close for SGL TF LAN updated by: Astro Boy
Registrations for the upcoming SGL TF LAN held at DEATHnet on Saturday the 13th of March 1999, will close on Wednesday the 10th of March 1999.

We now have 3 teams signed up, Loki, Dragon, and Xtreme Force. Interested teams that may sign up are Quivering Gibbage, Black Lung, plus a team comprised of people whose National TF Clans cannot provide a team in Sydney. I am looking forward to seeing 6 teams play Team Fortress on LAN in the SGL, that is if all parties who have expressed interest sign up by next Wednesday.
